OAUG COLLABORATE 2015 - Day Minus 1

Since today is a travel day for a lot of people, which is why my OEM session started at 10:30 AM and not 9:00 AM when it actually started, and the Opening Keynote is tomorrow, I am calling today a pre-conference day!!  Yet that does not mean we rested on our laurels at all though!

10:30 AM - 1:00 PM - Kellyn Pot'Vin (@dbakevlar), Courtney Llamas (@courtneyllamas), Warner De Gruyter (@Yoda_EM) - Everything I Needed to Know About Enterprise Manager I Learned at COLLABORATE - Hands-on Lab

Simply put, the EM12c lab was amazing!!  If you get a chance to experience this, take the opportunity to get outside your comfort zone and learn about the OEM application!!

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Debra Lilley (@debralilley) - Understanding User Group and Oracle Programs

Debra had some technical issues but got through it!
CIO Advisory Board?!?  First time I ever heard of this, and I wonder who is on it!
Early Customer Programs - While this is cheaper, and you can go to Oracle for help, challenges await.
Oracle does not run any user groups, they are independent and can change minds at Oracle!  Remember how I said Oracle does not run any user groups?  Well the IOUC IS an Oracle user group they own!  This is a council of the other user groups and helps interface with Oracle!
Debra is part of EOUG which is a regional user group, and this opens up some more discussion around regional groups.

2:15 PM - 3:15 PM - Brent Bent (@BrianBent) and Michael Barone - OAUG Archive & Purge SIG

ILM means Information Lifecycle Management, not Industrial Light & Magic!  :}
You have to remember this is a limited subset of data gets purged from, as not all tables or data can get targeted for archive or purging.
There is a Steven Chan blog post about 12c purging features out there, and I will update you when I find it!
Refer to Oracle document B12270-03 Chapter 8 for information on Archiving and Purging for the General Ledger module!
GL period has to be Permanently Closed, data cannot be reloaded!
Reminder to rebuild indexes periodically!
LOTs of AP tables compared to just a couple for GL.
Refer to Oracle document A81018-02 Chapter 10 for information on Archiving and Purging for the Accounts Receivable module!
Refer to Oracle document E13581-04 Chapter 10 for information on Archiving and Purging for the Projects module!
Check out the new Archive Purge portal in 12.1 under OAM -> Purging/Critical.
MOS Note ID 110168.1

3:30 PM - 4:30 PM - John Peters, Karen Brownfield, Bill Burbage and Vijay Shanmugam - OAUG Workflow SIG

There is a mobile EBS app for iOS and Android - 1642423.1 / 1641772.1
R12.2.4 changes proxy user access control to require UMX (User Management) on the System Administration end, and also changes how the users can do this in the application as well.
"Striping" different WF addresses based on OU is a potential feature down the road, which sounds like a very interesting idea!
There is a Workflow blog from Oracle at: blogs.oracle.com/oracleworkflow and you can get up to speed with the workflow SIG at workflowsig.oaug.org!

4:45 PM - 5:45 PM - Various - Meeting of the OAUG Members

Some awards were given out, which was fun to see Susan Behn and Elke Phelps win, and then there were a lot of questions from the audience that I thought the panel took seriously and gave good responses to them!

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - LIGHT Night Club - OAUG Reception: Welcome to Wonderland

This was a pretty trippy event, with a lot of psychedelic lighting and Alice in Wonderland themed dancers but everybody seemed to be having fun and the food was pretty good too!  I know I'll enjoy my OAUG 25 baseball jersey!!
